Lone Star Audio Fest
Neli will be at the Lone Star Audio Fest in Dallas Texas late this week and weekend representing Audio Note U.K. and Audio Federation.
Yes, we missed the Montreal show and it looks like we will miss the Stereophile Show in NYC.
No, we do not like this.
We going through show withdrawal hell…but RMAF will be here soon… kind of.
Hello Mike and Neli,
You may be interested in knowing that Tenor Audio seems to be back in production and was present at the Montreal Show (which I attended). They were demonstrating their new Tenor 350M OTL monoblock amplifiers (which are HUGE and cost $75,000 USD/pair) with Kharma Mini Exquisites, MBL preamp and MBL cd player. Although I did not get to listen to all the exhibits in attendance, in my view, this configuration was one of the better sounding systems of those I did hear at the show. It would be interesting to get your views on this combination, if and when you have the opportunity to audition it.
Regards,
Michel
I was at the Montreal show too…to me there is nothing special about the Tenor/Kharma combo…a lot of hype…I guess it’s a matter of taste..
Well, I wish we could’a got to of hear’d that system for ourselves…
Does 350M mean 350 Watts??? If so they must run a wee bit hot….
Thanks you two for the… uh… differing perspectives … 🙂
-Mike
I heard that combo at FSI 2007 as well and to be quite franck, it was the most natural sounding system there. No glare, no hardness, no edge. Resolution at least on par with the Nordost Valhalla cabled systems with considerably more BODY to the music and definitely better articulated bass (although it lacked depth probably due to the size of the speakers). The highs were fairly well extended but probaly not the last ounce of detail in terms of air. Note that NO powerconditioning of any kind was used! Also, I did not see ANY isolation under the Tenor amps. And there were no room treatments used either. So despite only being a tease as to what that system can really sound like, it was still the most coherent and persuasive presentation there … to me and my wife at least … and by a wide margin. They were using the Kubala Sosna Emotion cables exclusively. Source/dac/pre were MBL. I think they will be in NY this weekend with the same system. I wish we could go again.
