CES 2012 – Peachtree Audio

I think when audiophile’s complain that CES is not ‘audiophile friendly’ enough for their tastes, they are referring to rooms like this.

I wonder if this room is made to demonstrate to dealers and distributors who are primarily interested in how things will look and sell in a store – and certainly many casual visitors to high-end audio stores stand while listening to various pieces of equipment.

[We’re about 3/4 through day 2. The first third or so of Day 3 will be at THE Show]

CES 2012 – King Sound, Bob Carver, Purity Audio Design

There were two systems in this room as well. This is the smaller system.

CES 2012 – T+A Elektroakustik

T+A also had two systems in their room [that is, like, 3 rooms in a row, I think]. This is the larger system, featuring their Solitaire CWT 1000 speakers on their electronics.

CES 2012 – Octave Audio

Octave Audio also had two systems in their room this year, both with Dynaudio speakers [who were next door, as we’ll soon see]. There was also a smattering pf T+A gear, also a few rooms away.

CES 2012 – Simaudio

The Simaiudio room featured their Moon electronics on Sonus Faber Amati loudspeakers

The Simuadio rooms traditionally feature this black cloth on piping setup at shows.

Simaudio ‘Moon’ amplifier with open chassis. A little blurry, and don’t know which amp this is, but I think we can tell quite a few things from this photo about the design of the Moon amps. They feature clean and simple designs and at most a medium-sized transformer [presumably under that metal box].

CES 2012 – WASP, DREAM 360

Dream 360 makes interesting-looking speakers.

This was a weird room – the guy on the left there wouldn’t move his arm either time as I had to squeeze by to take close-up photos and then to leave. Kind of creepy.

They weren’t playing music loud enough to really hear what the speakers sounded like.
