Audio Note CDT Three transport breaking in
It arrived right before we left for the HE 2006 Show and we left it playing while we were there, and for the weeks we have been back.
Still changing on a day-to-day basis…
It looks great on the piano black Harmonic Resolutions Systems’ MXR rack with the gloss black Audio Note 4.1x Balanced DAC and matte black Lamm L2 linestage and power supply.
Soon now we are going to tear apart this very synergistic, or is it synerblisstic, system replacing the front end with the Audio Aero Prestige CD / SACD player.
Why?
1. In order to be able to put the Brinkmann over on the HRS rack with the Lamm LP2 phono preamplifier
AND
2. to put together a 100%, well 90% because we do not have any Audio Note cables here right now, a 90% complete Audio Note system:
Audio Note CDT Three transport
Audio Note 4.1x Balanced DAC
Audio Note M10 preamplifier
Audio Note Kegon amplifiers
Audio Note SEC Silver Signature loudspeakers
and eventually we will have to find a way to get a turntable into listenng room #3 in order to add:
Audio Note M8 Phono preamplifier
Audio Note AN-S4 step-up transformer
All this to ‘Hear What it Sounds Like’.
Ain’t life fun?
Hi Mike,
I’m loving the Audio Note CDT-3 setup. I heard a similar setup although it was 100% Audio Note gear at the VTV Expo in New Jersey last month.
Great sound overall, very high resolution and transparency.
I noticed you’re using Shunyata Anaconda Vx on the CDT-3. Is that the new Shunyata Alpha Helix you were recently breaking-in? How’s it coming along?
When you get some free time you really should consider posting a blog entry on the new Anaconda Helix line (Alpha vs. Vx).
Regards to both you and Neli.

Hi Steven,
Glad you are enjoying your CDT-3. Ours is geting better day by day – it already sounds great, and we are very happy with it, but can’t wait for it to settle down… 🙂
Actually, that is the previous generation Shunyata Python Vx – which was the same red as this generation’s Anaconda Helix. We WISH we had an extra Anaconda Vx, Helix or old style, to put on it. With 4 complete systems we need 25 powercords or so. I think we have about 20 Anaconda, 5 python, 3 Nordost Valhalla, 4 EL-ROD on audition, and assorted other Shunyata and Nordst.
That’s over $50K in powercords alone. *Gulp*
As for the shootout – will do. Did one a month or so ago. We are getting happier and happier with the Anaconda Helix Alpha as it has almost broken in [we used to break them in on the fridge, but this is no longer possible after our remodel. So just using heaters and fans – and amplifiers – it is taking longer]. And the Anaconda Helix Vx now has more resolution than the old Anaconda Alpha!
Thanks, I’ll pass your regards on to Neli…
All the best,
Mike.
