FSI: Festival Son & Image: Montreal 2008 (updated)
Checking out the reports….
Cruising AudioXSell, it looks like Lamm brought their $139K ML3 amplifiers to the show. Looks like the Lohengren or Sarastro speakers. I guess this means we can show the Marten Coltrane Supremes one of these years without shocking the Canadians.
It also looks like Tenor is showing with Avalon Eidolon or Eidolon-ish speakers. So Kharma doesn’t appear to be there.
Audio Note isn’t there either – because none of us really got it together for this show on time. Officially, Audio Federation does not handle Canada – but we thought about doing the show anyway. The Montreal Show is a lot of fun 🙂
EnjoyTheMusic has their report. Positive Feedback, SonicFlare all look like they will not cover the show. Nothing in the discussions (kind of a blessing) on Audio Asylum or Audiogon. Nothing on Audio Circle. No wonder people like our show reports.
6moons has posted A Report. For some reason they covered many of which are traditionally the worst sounding rooms. Go figure.
Thanks to everybody (especially Robert Gaboury) for pointing me to the following reports:
Stereophile Montreal FSI Show Report [Why I didn’t think of this since this is ‘their’ show, I just couldn’t tell you. Neli, however, can go on at extreme length about my periodic lapses of common sense – and does. Frequently :-)]
UHF Magazine Montreal FSI Show Report. UHF is a Canadian print magazine so it makes sense that they should have great coverage.
Magazine Audio’s FSI page but I did not find any actual coverage there yet.
We will add more links to show reports as we (and you) find them.

Hi everyone,
My name is Matthieu and I come from Québec/Montreal. I realy like your web site. I just want to tell my opinion about that comment :
“I guess this means we can show the Marten Coltrane Supremes one of these years without shocking the Canadians.”
The anwser for me is Yes you’re right! I’ll not be shock if you show the Marten Coltrane, it’s the opposite :). I can’t anwser for all the Canadien but for me, I’ll NOT be shock and it’s the same think with the Audio Note electronic. It will be a pleasure for us to have you in the FSI. I hope in 2009 we will see Audio Note and Marten in the show 😉
Cheers
Matthieu
Hi Matthieu,
I sure hope we can bring something to show up there next year. And hopefully something awesome 🙂 Well, our Audio Note rooms are either ‘affordable’ systems or blow out the doors systems… and if we are going to go All That Way – we might as well go for the gold 🙂
Did you get to go to the show? Hear anything worth mentioning? We are dying for news here!
Take care,
Mike.
The Show was great and the Show management provided first class support. As usual, Montrealers are great music fans and brought great CDs for demos. Audio Federation usually provides the best show coverage in the business and it’s sad you couldn’t be there.
Anyway, Enjoy the Music, UHFMag, Stereophile and Magazine-Audio have on going coverage.
Seems that canadian Mooner Paul Candy will post his show coverage soon. I did not see Paul at the show although I met his look-alike who gave me that deer-in-the-headlights look when I asked how he was doing…
StereoMojo’s own Jim Darby was there, so we might see his coverage anytime…
Thanks again, Robert!
I see that Paul Candy’s report has the title but no link yet on 6moons. We’ll link to it as soon as they get it up.
Deer-in-the-headlights look… now I don’t feel so bad that I did the same thing to one of the guys from Cogent at the last RMAF. I guess it is just one of those ‘show experiences’ we all have to go through… like puberty. 🙂
Take care,
Mike.
Alvin Gold’s report is part of the mid-month update at Enjoy The Music:

Thanks Dave!
Take care,
Mike.
