Have a lot to say after the show on the 3 rooms with the YG Acoustics speakers – driven by MBL (here), Soulution and Veloce. The pluses and minuses are quite stark.
Kubala-Sosna and GTT Audio (next door to each other on floor 5) also did some very interesting things with their source only being the digital playback of LPs they had recorded.
These of course could be heard in several rooms at the show, including one of ours (the XDS1 CD/SACD player).
Stuck my head in here when they were playing Girl from Ipanema. Begin very familiar with high quality renderings of this song and also the turntable [which we’ve had for many years now… :-)] – my conclusion was that this was woefully under-damped and out of control in the mids and lower mids.
Yes, yes, the speakers are apparently too big for the room and I will make it to the similar Walker room with the smaller TAD speakers to see what reportedly is a somewhat better sound.
