stand out from the pack, and of these outstanding systems, some of
our best-of-breed components are an integral part. |

Recommended System #1
(Wilson/Lamm) |
|
|
The Wilson speakers are very
detailed and dynamic and a little on the cold side of neutral. With
most amplifiers, they tend to sound sterile and uninvolving. By
pairing these speakers with the Lamm amplifiers, one can experience
the wonderful musicality of the Lamms as can only be revealed
through the incredible resolution and accuracy of the Wilson
speakers.
Lamm 18 watt ML2 single-ended triode amplifier:
This is felt by many to be the best amplifier in the world. The
ultimate in musical accuracy, in natural dynamics.
Lamm 90 watt ML1.1 push/pull tubed amplifier: This
amplifier brings most of the naturalness and musicality of the ML2
and adds the ability to drive the speaker to higher SPLs (i.e. it
plays louder than the ML2)
Wilson WATT/Puppy System 7: A marked improvement
over the System 6, this easier to drive speaker is known for it
ability to render massive detail and micro-dynamic transients.
Wilson X-1 Grand SLAMM:: The most expensive speaker
in the Wilson line, this speaker can render massive amounts of
detail and any and all possible dynamic transients asked of it. The
word 'Slam' is in the name of this speaker for good reason.

Configuration 1
'Wilson X-1
Grand SLAMM'This is the
ultimate configuration for this system design. The dynamics,
the texture, the ability to render large, complex works are
all taken to the nth degree. It consists of 2 pairs of ML2
monoblocks used in a bi-amp configuration driving the Wilson
X1 Grand SLAMM. |
Configuration 2
'Wilson
WATT/Puppy 7'This is the
reference configuration for this system design.
This system was
available for audition at CES 2003. |
Configuration 3
'Wilson
WATT/Puppy 7'This system
provides a very similar sound to that provided by system
Configuration 2 but at a significant cost savings.
This system was
available for audition at CES 2003. |

Recommended System #2 (Kharma/Lamm) |
|
|
This is a classic system. Kharma and
Lamm Industries have shown together at many high-end shows and these
systems are robustly musical and enjoyable in many, many different
environments and associated components.
Lamm 100 watt class A M1.2 Reference hybrid amplifier: This
amplifier, able to drive any speaker load, is both powerful and
naturally musical.
Kharma Ceramique Reference Monitor 3.2: An easy to
drive, smaller speaker that may have one of the best, top to bottom
balances and coherency of any speaker in the Kharma line excepting
the Exquisites.
Kharma Grand Ceramique: One of the larger Kharmas,
this easy to drive speaker attempts to add some bass to the
wonderful sounds of the smaller Kharmas.
Kharma Exquisite: The best Kharma speaker, and one
of the best speakers in the world, this easy to drive speaker has
complete coherency, top to bottom, and actually sounds like a point
source monitor speaker - but with the dynamics and slam of the
biggest and best floor standers.

Configuration 1
'Exquisite'
This configuration, heard with the
Walker Gold Proscenium turntable and Lamm L2 preamplifier as a
front-end, was truly astonishing in its power and ability to
render lifelike orchestras. It consists of 2 pairs of M1.2
Reference monoblocks used in a bi-amp configuration driving
the Kharma Exquisite.
This system was
available for audition at CES 2002. |
Configuration 2
'Grand
Ceramique'This
configuration, heard with a CEC transport, DCS DAC and Lamm L2
front-end, is one of those rare, pleasant sounding systems
that one can just sink into and relax and enjoy for a
lifetime.
This system was
available for audition at CES 2002. |
Configuration 3
'Ceramique
3.2'For smaller rooms,
this configuration (after the 3.2 is completely broken in) has
the ability to render lifelike, musical passages that are
utterly convincing in their beauty.
This system was
available for audition at Stereophile Home Entertainment 2002
and CES 2003. |
