Emm Labs
FAQ
(Frequently Asked Questions) |
1.
Who is Emm Labs? |
Emm Labs is the pre-eminent pro-audio digital
equipment manufacturer. Ed Meitner, the founder and head of Emm Labs,
worked with Sony to develop the SACD specification. Their equipment is
used in many, if not most, studios today when creating CDs and
SACDs. |
2.
How long does
it take to break-in the Meitner pair? |
All paths through the transport and DAC need to be
broken in: the ordinary redbook CD playback, the SACD playback, the
analog output stage of the DCC2, the input stage of the DCC2 -
everything.
We have found it takes at least a month, especially
for the analog output stage.
We have also found it takes about 2 to 3 days to
really warm up each time it is turned off, though it is at about
90-95% after one day, and at about 80-85% after an hour or so. |
3.
How is the ordinary redbook CD playback in comparison with the widely
acknowledged best SACD playback? |
On a well-broken in transport and DAC we have found
it to be the state-of-the-art as well, and have not found
anything better in terms of purity and transparency and magic. It is
Mike's favorite redbook player - at least in the under $40K category. |
