Audio Note Japan (Kondo) $250K Gakuon-II amplifiers, M1000 preamplifier, KSL-DAC, 4704 PiTracer transport and ART loudspeakers. Guess which was the weak link (and the most inexpensive!) piece in the chain? Which is nothing to be ashamed about, few speakers in the world are of the caliber of these components.

JAS Audio. This room sounded pretty good - lots of ceramic driver speakers at the show this year; even though it looks like Venture speakers are no longer using them - many other speaker manufacturers are doing well with them, to my ears anyway.

This system had good control of the bass.

NFS (Not for sale) Audio / Audiolites room. Beads guard the door to this room with a ....different... decor. The beads could have been in the picture of something a little friendlier.... :-)

Opera speakers, Graaf electronics

A group of us traipsed into this room to here the Graaf electronics, but they started playing this system so LOUD (for some other show goers obviously digging the music) that I immediately went into the other room to photograph their smaller system setup.

There is loud, for example the Halcro room was always LOUD, and then there is loud with DISTORTION. Some people think that there is always distortion when music is played loud but it ain't so!
