Starting the packing-up process; amps off (Lamm ML2.1s), Jorma No. 1 speaker cables in the middle of the floor.

In this setup, the room is 14.5 x 25 x 8, setup on short wall. Outside front foot of each speaker is 40" from the side wall. Rear inside foot is 80" from front wall -- but a normal setup in this room would put the rear inside foot about 60" from the front wall if the Audio Note E loudspeakers were not setup where they are. Inner front feet are 6' apart. Listening position is about 8.5' from the plane of the front of the loudspeakers, but this is pretty flexible.

Right loudspeaker, and front end used most recently in this system: emmLabs CDSD-SE transport /  DCC2-SE DAC/Pre, with various other digital goodies, RixRax equipment rack.

The equipment rack is 20" deep, and fairly close to the loudspeaker. If it were not there then we might have pulled the loudspeakers apart a bit more -- but the imaging was certainly outstanding with the setup as shown.

Kharma's special binding posts have a single knob that secures both posts. These binding posts only accept spades. The part secured by the knob can rotate, so please make sure that the red dot on the top piece is aligned with the red dot on the part of the posts mounted to the loudspeaker.

The 3.2s have grilles, although one hardly ever sees them with the grilles on. They are useful for situations where the drivers require some protection, but we do recommend that you remove them for listening. This pair is pretty much new. We've unpacked and installed them for shipping.

The 3.2 CRM come with beautifully made metal stands affixed to the bottom of the loudspeakers. The feet (detail at left) are threaded and should be used to level your loudspeakers once positioning is finalized. Yes, the piano finish is quite reflective!

These spiked feet are quite sharp. As you may have noted in the image above, metal floor protectors, with a divot to accept the spike, are included. These should be used on hardwood floors. When used on carpet, as shown here, they greatly simplify the positioning process by allowing the speakers to slide on the floor surface.

Prior to crating the loudspeaker, secure the binding posts and the spiked feet. Wrap the stand with stretchwrap and enclose the (dusted and pristinely clean) loudspeaker in a large heavy plastic bag. (oops, no photos of this step).

OK, time to crate 'em up. Kharma's packaging is quite good. Each crate is 45 x 17 x 21 with a skid bottom. Weight, crated, is about 90 lbs each. Take the lid off to remove the loudspeaker. IF you want to lift less, take off one of the long sides. We did this for the Minis, but not for the 3.2s. Make sure to mind the binding posts! The 3.2s can't be laid on their backs without some kind of support underneath. A thick pillow or blanket towards the top would work.
