Speakers for my office?
Every time Neli … irks… me I threaten to move the Marten ‘Supreme’ speakers into my office ๐ Which is at least once a day. ๐
Of course, this does not make her any happier with me at those moments…
But, you know, I really, really, really would like to have the Supremes as my personal little system – and it would TOO fit in my 10×11 foot office [seriously, I think it would do just fine]
But if I am not careful with this negotiation stuff I may end up with these.
These speakers look cool and affordable. Hell, they may even sound good. Why wouldn’t you want to try them on your desk?
Hi Mark,
Well, I agree there is a certain design simplicity to the things.
But … ‘they may even sound good’? This is certainly the way many, many people buy their gear – probably about 90%? of the people Audiogon and Audio Circle et. al.
As Neli says, this is exactly backwards. First: does it sound good? 2nd: is it affordable? Then it would be great if their looks didn’t completely suck.
Not trying to pick on you in particular ๐ but … what is an audiophile? Someone who pays attention to and strives for high quality sound for their music playback? Or someone who farts around with music reproduction equipment?
We are of the former bent – perhaps because we are too old, or too busy, or value our time too much, or think life is too short – to have the time to waste listening to music that doesn’t sound as good as it can be within the practical limits of our individual lives.
The corollary is that, yeah, when I was young I purchased and hacked on all sorts of gear – much of it broken in some way. Sounded horrible – even to me then. ๐ But sound DID come out of one end of it ๐ Certainly didn’t call myself an audiophile then – not sure I had even heard the word before.
Thanks for posting,
