Speaker placement is very room-specific, i.e. it depends on the couches, windwos, doorways, etc. in the room. Start with an equilateral triangle and go from there using your ears.

From my listening, the Caravelle is real sounding and that is about the extent of its character - it let through the character of the upstream components. The Caravelle is similar to the Summit, but the Summit is larger and is built of granite and so has some good bass capability which makes it impressive for a monitor, albeit a somewhat large monitor.
