Hi Mike & Neli,

Just wanted to post recommending all EMM owners to make sure they keep up with the software updates. I just had my CDSDse updated and IMHO consider the improvement to be significant.

Comparatively, be it rhythm or timbre/texture of tone has articulation that now makes the outdated CDSDse sound smeared and slow. Frequency extremes both high and low have been extended. The overall tonality hasn't changed in its color, it's just more 'there'. Improvements in both sound-stage width and depth were also immediately apparent.

The differences were not subtle, and if you haven't already, I urge you to take advantage of these free upgrades!

If all goes as planned I will be getting into the new EMM DAC2/TSD1 combo and will do my best to give a comparison to the DAC6se/CDSDse once they fully break-in.

Hi Tom,

Fr-fr-fraz...fr... ? What a workout. I am between 'never again' and 'we should take the system down and up the stairs once a week'. What a workout. Makes doing 200lb squats at the gym feel like recess.

Oh! Your question.

Unfortunately, you are right, the TSD1 cannot be connected to the DAC6se using the new single data/clock fiber cable.

The TSD1 got a software update at the show - so we have to do the shootout with the SE separates again. In our initial impressions - the TSD1 and DAC2 seem to combine the best of both worlds - and do them better: That is the liveliness of the CDSA [the note attack is slightly steeper and/or the background slightly quieter] and the more everything else of the CDSD/DCC2 [more resolution, better presence, better solidity, better imaging, etc.].

[I think we have about 200 hours more to go to get to a nice 700 hour mark on the new pair. Then the shootout should be forthcoming... Anybody else want to be here? Email us. :-)]

Thanks for posting.

Take care,
Mike.

Hello Mike and Neli,

Hope you guys aren't too frazzled from the "RMAF experience" Anyway, I'm considering replacing my CDSDse with the new TSD-1 transport to use with my DAC6se. However I'm not sure I will be able to hook them up the most optimal way with the new single EMM fiber link. Is this correct? If so I will also have to purchase (ouch!) the new DAC2.

If you or Neli have any impressions on how the old meitner "se" separates compare to the new duo I sure would appreciate your thoughts. Also, while you are at it ... if you can throw in where the CDSA fits in all of this.

many thanks for for time

best,
Tom
