Hi Steve,

We really like to burn in our powercords on the fridge for about two weeks. This was about 1000 watts (we had an old fridge) but the new fridge is too hard to get to.

Before that we could burn them in on our Levinson 20.6 Class A amps which each drew 500 watts from the wall - day and night. Even though the Audio Note amps are also class A amps, at 22 to 35 music watts or so I think they only draw about 100 watts from the wall.

Our Edge Electronics solid state amps, however, draw very little power unless they need it for the music [i.e. it is LOUD].

In the Winter we use some heaters downstairs - which are 1500 watts, but go on and off a lot [well, I guess fridges do to].

<a href="http://www.eere.energy.gov/consumer/your_home/appliances/index.cfm/mytopic=10040" rel="nofollow">A list of wattages of common appliances is here:</a>

We were hoping that the low wattage, but very complex, signals the ViDar uses to break in ordinary cables would work better on the ELRODs. We still need to try them on ordinary power cords like those from Nordost and Acrolink and Jorma Design. The ELROD is a special case but we just happened to have two new ones just sitting there... :-)

Take care,
Mike.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the input on the Elrod Power Cords. Very interesting to see that it did not have much of an effect on power cords compared to signal cables! I just recently bought four new power cords. They seemed to break in in about three or four day. What I was amazed about was how big a change there was going from stock power cords to a good power cord. The inner detail musicality and taught thunderous bass was incredable. I'm sure you know what that is like with the systems you have.
