Hello Mike,
me again. You guys are using top power cords on everything (including your fridges...), are you using any kind of power conditioners or so too?

Hello Mike,

thanks for your reply!
I'm using Audio Note E-SEC Signatures, so this should not be a problem. I had on "old" Japanese Ongaku which I sold to finance the Balanced Kegons Peter Q. is building for me at the moment. They will be shipped to my place sometimes after the Milano Audio Show i.e. when I have finished payment...

Greetings from Greece,

Hi AN-dreas,

Yes, we've tried all sorts of things on the Kegons, power cords, amp stands, contact cleaner, Walker Audio SST Super Silver Treatment, who knows what else.

The biggest bang for the buck was the amp stand, especially the HRS M3 Isolation Base with their Nimbus Couplers. Probably because the chassis on the Kegons is prone to vibration, getting it up off its feet and on to something substantial helped a lot - tightened up the bass, opened up the midrange - better separation, etc.

Powercords helped a lot - and the power cord we used depended on the system, the Valhalla for systems where we wanted a little more detail and already had lots of body. The Shunyata for a big sound. The ELROD for a even bigger sound and even more openness.

What the Kegons like the best are speakers that they work well with. It is hard to predict what they will like - they love the Marten Coltranes, not sure about the Marten Coltrane Supremes, and did not like the Kharma Mini Exquisites much (but the Ongaku LOVES them - no rhyme or reason to this stuff sometimes :-))

Anyway, hope that helps. We can talk about the Kegons forever - they are such a kick-butt amp, hardly anything is even on the same planet.

Enjoy!
Mike.
