Hi Kreso,

Well, let's see. Didn't get dimensions but found out a few more things.

Neli says: "Although pricing is still being finalized, we expect the Bird to cost $30K US, available at the beginning of 2007, which is essentially ... now."

We all agree with you that Leif must have liked the sound of the Accuton diamond tweeter best on the Bird.

As of 2007 or so, newer Coltranes will also have impedance staying above, [why can't I find my notes when I need them? It is some kind of curse :-) ], the same 4.7 ohms, I believe. Because of this, they will only be +/- 2Hz down to 22Hz instead of 20Hz. A good tradeoff, in my opinion.

I haven't heard anything about price increases in the rest of the line, but I am afraid to look at the Euro / Dollar conversion numbers these days.

We'll certainly do our best to listen and report on the Bird - at least we have something to look forward to at the show. They are going to be in two rooms: one with EAR electronics and one with Bladilius electronics.

We need to learn as much as possible about the sound, and we have 4 days to do it in! [which is actually quite a bit of time, except that we can't swap in Lamm and Audio Note amps and front ends so we are limited by the systems IMHO, ...... uh, if only because we are more familiar with them........... Jorma is bringing his Jorma No. 1 cables, last I heard, which are a very good match with Marten speakers, again all IMHO].

Hope that helps a little. As we get more info we'll post it up here....

Thanks!
Mike.

Hi Mike,

I found out thing or two more about Bird and Duke Diamond Signature. Bird is reference model in Marten Heritage line and it is using new Diamond tweeter(colaboration between Marten and Jantzen Audio from Denmark), bigger(7") midrange driver and same bass drivers as Coltrane. Crossover points are 170Hz/2700Hz, 89db/w/m, impedance never below 4.7ohms(since we all know Coltrane impedance curve I have to say hmmm...? here). Weight is 47kg each. Price range? I do not know. USA and EU prices should be available after the CES.
Honestly, I am pretty interested in Bird! I am wondering how close will it sound to Coltrane? Your CES 2007 review shoud be very crucial indeed...
Duke Diamond Signature is as it name says Duke in limited edition with Diamond tweeter from Coltrane. Why is Marten not using its new Diamond tweeter in new version of Duke is still unknown... Leif final voicing I guess...
If you can provide all Marten fans with more info(dimensions of Bird for example!) about those new two very exciting product I(and not only me) would be very thankfull.

Hi Kreso,

Welcome to the Blog.

Thanks for the link; what cool pictures!

Yeah, Marten has a number of speakers in the works, and I think they ARE going to take at least one pair of Birds to CES. But to get the latest and greatest info [sometimes logistic issues crop up] I will have to defer to Neli who talks the the Marten distributor almost more than she talks to me [all you out there in a relationship, you know how this can sometimes be a good thing :-) Uh oh, I'm in trouble now.... ] - but she has been under the weather the last few days so we are about a week behind on gossip...

In general, however, Marten has been working on fillng in their product line and keeping prices as low as possible. For example, they are now able to manufacture their own diamond tweeter.

But me, I am too memory-challenged to remember what details we are supposed to and not supposed to talk about, so Neli will either post the juicy tidbits or I will post what she tells me I can post. :-)

Hopefully tomorrow sometime....

Take care,
Mike.
